 | The specimen Storage Location Manager provides a configurable tool that enables the user to characterize and manage its specimen/sample storage facilities on an enterprise-wide basis. Storage resources may be defined to reflect a parent/child hierarchy, which enables more effective item management. Everything from campuses and there buildings, on down to rooms and freezers with their shelves and boxes can be configured to reflect their proper relationships and attribute metadata.

By monitoring attributes of each storage location such as capacity, available space, fragmentation, largest open block, and reserved spaces, the Storage Location Manager provides powerful query capability to assist the Laboratory Manager in effective sample storage management. In addition, the application supports material movement within and among locations, as wel as pull lists, disposal management, shipment tracking, and storage rules enforcement.
Using templates to define the attributes of each level, a hierarchy of storage locations can be developed and modified to meet the needs of each unique facility.

Samples are identified via bar code scanning or folder query and moved into the appropriate location. A configurable sample movement dialog box prompts the user to document appropriate information pertaining to the movement of the sample for internal or external sample movements.
