 | LabWare LIMS includes robust and flexible HL7 messaging capability.
LabWare utilizes the tables established in the HL7 standards in a data-driven approach to parsing HL7 messages. The result of this approach is that our LIMS solution is well positioned to interface both with external data sources that rely upon existing HL7 standards (version 2.5 and below) as well as with those that rely upon the XML-based version 3 messaging scheme.
HL7 functions that are incorporated into the unique LIMS Basic scripting language allow messages to be flexibly constructed on a segment by segment basis. Using these native capabilities, incoming messages can be parsed and customer-specific rules for clinical order management may be easily configured.
The built-in HL7 parsing interface also provides a convenient troubleshooting tool for HL7 messaging issues.
HL7 templates are used to simplify the creation and parsing of HL7 files using the LIMS Basic scripting language. These templates can be configured with variations of standardized information and can then be reused to simplify message exchange with new data sources or consumers. Separate templates can be designed for different types of HL7 records, with different fields configured for each template and with varying fields populated automatically.
