 | Event Triggers, Analysis and Status Rules – Actions taken on LIMS events.
You can configure actions to take place on the change of status of Samples, Tests, Projects, Lots and Investigation and also on database events. These actions include, for example, sample logged, analysis complete but out of spec, lot dispositioned and record created. In each case you can call LIMS Basic routines or, with the exception of database events, launch a Crystal Report.

Calling a LIMS Basic routine gives you the opportunity to implement sophisticated business rules and workflows. For example, you could build the logic to assign further tests based on current results or you could transfer results to another system once a Lot has been dispositioned.
Analysis Rules provide a simple mechanism to assign tests automatically when an analysis is assigned, fails or is rejected. This can be used to make sure that if a test is assigned, and that test requires results from another test, then the second test is also assigned, if it has not already been done so.
Status Rules provide the ability to configure rules for review that can be used in addition to or instead of the Business Rules. For example, a status rule can be set up to prevent canceling a specific test and allow canceling of all other tests. Status Rules can be set up to allow certain users to review only certain tests. More sophisticated Status Rules can be designed to force a two stage review process. Status Rules are very powerful since they can be used to implement behavior that overrides the system's decision and allow the user to perform the function even if the Business Rules or Function Privileges say they cannot. |
