LabWare is a founding member of the Sustainable Computing Consortium associated with Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
One of the main charters of the SCC is to improve the robustness of computer systems by engaging industry leaders to develop standards and guidelines for assessing and describing software quality. Once quality can be discussed using a common vernacular, producers and consumers will be able to have meaningful dialogs about the trade-offs between quality, features, security, usability, and time-to-market. Now that hundreds of millions of computers are tied together via the Internet, mitigating risks associated with cyber attacks is a large concern at personal, business, and national levels.
