Regionalization

Different countries not only use local languages, some also present dates in different formats or use alternative decimal separator, for example a comma instead of a decimal point. LabWare LIMS fully supports these regional variations, and can be configured according to individual user's preferences. LabWare LIMS provides multi-lingual support for all menus and screen messages and for data.

The date presentation form and decimal separator used throughout LabWare LIMS is taken from the client PC's Window's Regional Settings. The presentation and display settings are specific to individual user's PCs, however, the data is stored in a consistent format in the database, so it can be retrieved and reported in the desired format at any time. Within the LabWare LIMS configuration, you can specify the preferred decimal separator to be used in database records.

LabWare LIMS provides National Language Support (NLS), which allows all text on any screen to be changed according to the site specific needs by simply editing a single file. This same concept is used to support different languages, or simply to deploy terminology specific to an industry or company. The text that appears on any menu, button, title bar or any other part of the LabWare LIMS interface is changeable.

LabWare LIMS is capable of supporting any language that is supported by the Microsoft Windows operating system. This includes languages that use extended and double-byte character sets, such as Arabic and Japanese. LabWare LIMS messages and menu files are available in English, Swedish, European Spanish, Latin American Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Brazilian, Danish, Russian, Czech, Polish, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic and others.

A key feature of LabWare LIMS is that these languages can occur simultaneously on the same global system. When a user logs in, their language setting will be read, and their menus, messages and data sets will appear in their selected language.

This concept also applies to data within the system, such as descriptions and list choices. This means that a user in Sweden can see the text in a data-driven pull-down in Swedish, while the same interaction for an English user appears in English. Since the key data for their choices is the same, the information can be combined on reports that span multiple sites.

LabWare LIMS also supports multi-lingual reporting, so that the same report format can be used for reporting in various languages.
