Projects

Grouping samples together for common processing and information retrieval is a frequent requirement in many industry disciplines. In fact, the "project paradigm" is pervasive throughout the quality management and stability areas, as well as within research, discovery, and clinical trials. Data definition and data management requirements often vary significantly across studies and also often involve differing levels of user access and functional privileges. This means that systems must not only support the project-oriented data construct and its associated application functionality, but that they must also offer on-demand configurability in order to adjust and adapt for project changes and for the creation of unique new projects as they arise.

The LabWare LIMS Project Manager is used to group together a set of samples, allowing you to collate, process and retrieve information easily. Projects allow you to easily define what information is required, and configurable templates allow you to pre-define their set-up so that they can be re-utilized to register the many different types of projects occurring within your laboratory.

The Project Manager lets you look at project contents either in summary form by providing a complete overview of the Project, or in detail form by providing sample-level information with drill down capabilities. This provides not only the ability to enter and manage all information associated with a project from one easy-to-use screen, but also the ability to quickly retrieve, view and report any project-specific information on demand.

The Project Manager is also a very powerful tool for performing project-related actions. For example, you can receive samples directly into a project, and then perform any authorized functions. Some common tasks include: assigning new tests, creating aliquots, entering results and reviewing/releasing result data. It is also possible to associate result records and external links to projects, allowing external documents to be securely associated for easy retrieval.
