Barcoding

LabWare LIMS provides full support for barcodes throughout the system, giving you quicker sample identification and also providing you with comprehensive tracking and chain of custody facilities in the laboratory. A common requirement is not only for the samples to be barcoded for quicker identification but also for functions to be barcoded; for example, to increase efficiency during sample login or result entry.

Throughout LabWare LIMS, beneficial facilities are built in to use in conjunction with barcoded samples. These include the ability to scan samples into a folder during sample reception for faster processing, and the ability to verify that a group of samples delivered are all present.

Generating labels with LabWare LIMS is also greatly simplified, and these can include any text information in addition to barcodes. The label can contain as much information as will fit on the selected size of the label and the selected font size for the text and barcode. Horizontal and vertical text can be used to maximize the amount of information presented.

Labels can be generated using dedicated printer labels, or generated using a standard printer by using barcode fonts. These can be subdivided with multiple labels on the same page, or multiple sub-labels for the same sample / test on the same page.

Among the many formats supported are Code 128, Code 39, UPC and Interleaved 2 of 5. These formats account for the vast majority of barcoding symbology used today.
