WishTrack

The development of the LabWare LIMS product is driven largely by the needs of the customers and also by suggestions from consultants. WishTrack provides the forum where a customer can ask for a module or an improvement to the system.

To initiate a WishTrack item a user must first describe the enhancement.

Thereafter, other customers may add their sponsorship to the item and include their suggestions as to how the new functionality should work.  Development priority is given to items that are sponsored by several customers.

The current status of all WishTrack items may be browsed using various criteria such as status and product area.

LabWare holds a User Group Meeting annually in each of the four centers, and it is here that the majority of WishTrack items are initiated and debated.  At the 2002 conference held in Tucson, Arizona in April, the delegates were shown the statistics for completion of WishTrack items.

Certain items were rejected and most of these came about because the solutions were already available or under development.  A couple were rejected because the developers considered the requests contrary to GLP or unsuitable according to regulatory doctrine.  A report of all entries into WishTrack is available via the Web.  At the time, this report runs 75 pages.

Version 5 of LabWare LIMS, released in 1Q03 included over 50% of these enhancement requests.
