 | LabWare has been selected as the successful vendor for a New Zealand Government Tender for the New Zealand Animal Health Reference Laboratory (NZAHRL). The NZAHRL is a Government Laboratory and is part of the New Zealand Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF - http://www.maf.govt.nz/mafnet/).
The NZAHRL required a LIMS that would meet the demands placed on it by a large disease response and subsequent survey to establish country freedom, whilst providing routine support for day-to-day diagnostic testing.
The NZAHRL carry out veterinary diagnostic testing for Immunology, Virology, Bacteriology, and Molecular Biology, subcontracting testing for Histology, Chemistry, Haematology, Gross Pathology and Parasitology. LabWare LIMS will be implemented at their Wallaceville laboratory, located on the Ag Research Centre campus in Upper Hutt - just north of New Zealand's Capital City Wellington. In the event of an exotic disease response Field Outbreak Response Teams (FORT) will have direct access via LabWare WebLIMS.
LabWare LIMS will be replacing an old in-house system that was not designed to manage the current functionality of the laboratory.
The NZAHRL selected LabWare LIMS via a competitive tender process. LabWare LIMS was selected for its compatibility with existing MAF hardware / software standards, its state of the art functionality and its customer controlled configuration flexibilities.
One of the other benefits that NZAHRL will gain from the project is the ability to work with Primary Industries Research Victoria (PIRVic) in Australia. PIRVic is the major animal research and diagnostic facility in the State of Victoria in Australia and is an integral part of the Department of Primary Industries, Agriculture Victoria's Animal Industries group. Both organisations recognise the synergies in their business processes and therefore there is substantial opportunity to work together where possible to share common LIMS configuration. Standard XML functionality in LabWare LIMS allows both organisations to export and import objects being shared (e.g. analysis configuration, test report, project and folder templates, etc).
