 | In May 2004, LabWare was selected as the successful LIMS vendor for Bega Cheese. Bega Cheese, as an industry leader, has invested in state of the art production processes and is committed to producing high quality products. To keep in line with the company’s goals, the final product and quality control testing required a reliable and efficient means of managing and reporting analytical information.
LabWare LIMS was selected because of its flexibility and user configurability, allowing Bega Cheese staff to configure the system to meet all of their requirements. LabWare LIMS also allowed integration with other Bega Cheese systems and for Bega Cheese to continue developing the LIMS system over time. Bega Cheese has operated for over 100 years and is Australia's number one selling single cheese brand. Bega Cheese exports to a large number of countries including Japan, China, South Korea and Middle East countries.
Bega Cheese will use LabWare LIMS to manage all test information in their main laboratory (as well as having the potential of being rolled out to their process control laboratory) where it will be used to replace paper versions of worksheets and result sheets, along with numerous spreadsheets, used to record results and laboratory data.
Along with providing benefits of instrument integration and direct data entry, the new system will have added security features, audit tracking and will allow for more efficient access to the required information. The system will also allow for various reporting styles depending on the each departments’ needs.
The LabWare LIMS project commenced in June. Included in the LabWare Project will be interfaces to Bega Cheese’s Tanker Flow Meter System, as well as an interface to Bega Cheese’s Milk Supply Payment System.
The project will be divided into two phases with phase one including the Tanker Flow Meter and Milk Supplier Payment System interfaces as well as finished product testing of cheeses. The timeline for phase one is six weeks and is expected to go live in mid August 2004. |
