We're excited to introduce LabWare Clinical Health 5.06, the latest version of our solution designed for clinical diagnostics and public health labs.

This new release introduces a range of enhanced features aimed at driving operational efficiency, streamlining workflows, and expanding the system's capabilities in key areas such as billing, data management, and laboratory communications. You can also view the official press release.

“Clinical Health 5.06 reflects our ongoing commitment to drive improved clinical laboratory operational efficiency and automation with innovative LIMS capabilities,” said Ed Krasovec, Director of Clinical Solutions at LabWare. “This version was released utilizing LabWare’s comprehensive automated testing tool, which allowed for a more rigorous and expanded validation testing footprint and will streamline testing for future versions.”

The automated testing tool is also available for use by customers, allowing for the creation of scripts that streamline LIMS validation efforts by automating the execution of window actions in much the same way as a user would interact with the system to manage daily laboratory operations.

The most notable enhancements in Clinical Health 5.06 include:

  • Out-of-the-Box Billing Module: Laboratory billing is now included as a standard feature, eliminating the need for optional add-ons and simplifying implementation for clients who require comprehensive billing functionality. This functionality uses a defined customer contract to automatically assign chargeable items at the appropriate price to an invoice record as the lab work is performed. The invoice data can then be sent via an interface to an external financial software for processing/accounts receivable.

  • Enhanced Result Review Dashboards: Labs will benefit from streamlined result verification with improved user interfaces and data visualization, reducing review time and boosting confidence in result accuracy. The review dashboard provides options to approve, reject, cancel, retest, add internal-only or reportable comments, and preview the laboratory results report. Recent improvements include enhanced visibility into comments and the status of reports.

  • Refined Send-Out Functionality: Updates to the send-out process offer more efficient coordination with referral laboratories, including better tracking and management of external lab requests. An enhanced dashboard provides easy access to a list of samples pending for send out to a referral lab and samples that have been sent out that are pending results.

  • Advanced Contact Management: The new release provides upgraded tools for documenting and managing customer communications and issue resolution, helping labs maintain strong client service standards.

  • Master Data Management Dashboard: A new dashboard allows for more granular control over master data elements such as the test catalog, submitters, and practitioners, improving transparency and change tracking.

  • Role Definition Enhancements: Reorganized and ready-to-use role definitions offer increased flexibility and clarity for lab administrators managing access control and user permissions. A new dashboard makes it easier for the LIMS admin to view and update the functional privileges across multiple roles.

  • Smarter Search Functions: Flexible template-driven query tools provide powerful search capability that a LIMS admin or super user manages. Query results can be exported as CSV output or visualized with pivot analysis or charting tools. The update also introduces improved search capabilities for reference range records, allowing LIMS administrators to create and update reference ranges more efficiently.

  • HL7 Integration Flexibility: LabWare’s native configurable interoperability tools include bidirectional support for HL7 ADT, ELO, and ELR messaging. The latest release enables automatic flagging of tests that are added or canceled during order processing, improving quality control and oversight.

With its modular architecture, deep configurability, and now even greater ease of use, LabWare Clinical Health Solution continues to lead the industry as the most powerful and adaptable LIMS and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) platform available for clinical and public health laboratories.
