Regulatory Compliance
LabWare LIMS and ELN support the technical controls required under 21 CFR Part 11 and EU Annex 11, including audit trails, electronic signatures, and access controls.
LabWare supports the data and documentation requirements of the GMP regulations that govern biologics QC, including 21 CFR Parts 210/211 and 600–610 and EU GMP, including Annex 1 for sterile manufacturing. Specifications can be structured to follow ICH Q6B for biotechnological products. For contract testing labs, LabWare also supports ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements.
-
Audit Trails
LabWare records each change in an audit trail with the user, timestamp, reason, and before and after values. Users are prompted for an audit reason, so reviewers can distinguish intentional edits from accidental ones. Filtered, risk-based review helps labs focus on entries that deviate from SOPs, and electronic signatures can be configured for single, dual, or co-sign workflows.
-
Data Integrity
FDA describes data integrity as data that is attributable, legible, contemporaneously recorded, original or a true copy, and accurate (ALCOA). LabWare LIMS and ELN are designed to support those principles. Role-based access limits who can change records, barcode scanner and instrument integration reduces manual entry, and autosave records each change in the audit trail.
-
Validation Support
LabWare has already qualified its LIMS and ELN, so validation can focus on your configuration. LabWare’s validation services team works with you on a risk-based approach and builds a package that tests installation, the operation of your configured objects, and fit to your business process. Validation remains the responsibility of the regulated organization.
-
Microbial Safety
Sterility culture, Gram stain, mycoplasma, and viral testing, including adventitious virus and replication-competent retrovirus (RCR) assays, are scheduled and tracked per sample, with each result recorded against its limit.
-
Endotoxin
Endotoxin appears on almost every certificate of analysis, and its limit depends on the product: per mg of protein, per kg of body weight, or per vial. LabWare manages the limit in the form your specification uses.
-
Purity
Antibody purity is measured by size-exclusion high-performance liquid chromatography (SEC-HPLC), SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), and host cell DNA and protein. Cell therapy purity is measured by viability and marker panels. LabWare holds the methods and acceptance criteria for each.
-
Identity
Antibody identity is confirmed by isotype and isoelectric focusing. Cell therapy identity is confirmed by flow cytometry markers and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) or T cell receptor (TCR) expression. LabWare records each result against the acceptance criteria for the product.
-
Potency
Potency is the most product-specific category, using immunoreactivity, bioassays, interferon gamma (IFN-γ) release, or half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) ratios. LabWare lets you configure the assay and acceptance criteria separately for each product.
-
Quantity
Quantity is protein concentration for antibodies and total viable cell count for cell therapies. LabWare records the result against specification and keeps it with the identity, purity, and potency results for the same lot
-
General & Physical Attributes
Appearance, pH, formulation, and storage complete the specification. LabWare records these alongside the biological tests, so every attribute of a lot sits in one record.
